EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) bring together public authorities (municipalities), businesses (industry and SMEs), research centres and universities as partners, creating a favourable environment for creative thought and innovation to flourish, allowing innovative products and services to be developed in every area imaginable, including climate change, healthy living and active ageing, new companies to be started, and a new generation of entrepreneurs to be trained. They carry out a whole range of activities that cover the entire innovation chain – including training and education programmes, reinforcing the journey from research to the market, innovation projects as well as business incubators and accelerators. Innovation Communities have been conceived so that they are able to react in an effective and flexible way to new challenges and changing environments.
EIT Urban Mobility is an Innovation Community funded by the EU and is currently consisting of 90 partners from 15 countries dedicated to accelerating solutions that improve our collective use of urban spaces, while ensuring accessible, convenient, safe, efficient, sustainable and affordable multimodal mobility. EIT Urban Mobility’s objective is to rethink urban spaces, overcoming fragmentation by integrating all urban mobility players – including cities and citizens – and increasing social inclusion and equality.
The Head of Communications and Stakeholder Relations is responsible for developing and implementing internal and external communication strategy as well as managing Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement and above all the linking pin in the communication between European citizens and solutions of the EIT UM community.
§ Building the internal communications plan for proactively aligning partners around our vision, mission and strategy.
§ Keep the Management Team and all partners informed on important EIT Urban Mobility news and updates in a timely, relevant, and engaging manner.
§ Provide communication guidance at Management level as well as at Innovation Hub level to ensure the EIT Urban Mobility voice is applied across all communications, written and verbal.
Internal partner community building by social media and online presence: Responsible for intranet content creation and management and online dialogue by social media
Corporate Marketing and Communication:
§ Development and implementation of communication strategy and integrated content & brand strategy including online media target setting.
§ Branding: development and launch of EIT Urban Mobility brand targeting different stakeholders, including citizens.
§ Plan and coordinate corporate events.
§ Media engagement/social listening
§ External community building/citizen engagement and dialogue: Social Media and online presence: Responsible for broadcasting and dialogue via social media, internet content creation and management, including, campaigning, monitoring, and moderating .
§ Data analytics and metrics (clicks, views, interactions, etc.). on online activities and campaigns (Internal and external newsletters, websites and social media
§ Content creation & campaign development.
§ Develop marketing and merchandising materials.
Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement:
§ Manage Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement.
§ Develop outreach and stakeholder engagement activities, including the dissemination of activities and results to different stakeholders including business, academia, institutions, cities and citizens.
§ Strategically position EIT Urban Mobility at European level, to help initiate innovative European partnerships.
§ Structured dialogue with key Commission Services.
§ Engage in working groups of European associations and with relevant business and stakeholders’ associations. Foster synergies of EIT Urban Mobility with other EU programs and beyond in a targeted manner.
§ Coordinate preparation and participation of EIT Urban Mobility Staff in events.

§ REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVEL: Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
§ REQUIRED LANGUAGES: ENGLISH: Excellent. Level C2. Other EU languages are a plus.
§ Over 6 years’ experience in a communications/stakeholder relations role with a comprehensive understanding of innovative communication methods, including leveraging and maximizing traditional, digital and social media channels.
§ Proven social media skills – including managing regional accounts, creating content and growing / managing an online community.
§ Proven ability to design, develop and implement an integrated communications strategy using a range of channels.
§ Excellent writing skills for communications content relevant for diverse audiences, recognising channel and format mix.
§ Media relations experience.
§ Strong track record of influencing and building collaborative relationships with highly diverse Mobility stakeholders.
§ Ability to navigate a highly complex organisational structure and operational processes of a growing organization.
§ Ability to convert scientific and/or technical concepts to simple and compelling content.
§ The ability to demonstrate strategic and analytical thinking skills.
§ High standard of quality in all communications output.
§ Outstanding oral, written and presentation skills.
§ Proficiency in both long-term strategic planning and impromptu on-deadline performance.
Appointment and salary
We offer a fulltime job with attractive salary and benefits. The aim is to ensure a permanent Head of Communications and SH relations of EIT Urban Mobility in place by 31 December 2019.
The role location will be Barcelona (Spain), with regular travel to the Innovation Hubs, partners and other stakeholders. Regular presence in Barcelona is required (50%), but relocation is not a must.
